Brain Biomarkers Research Lab


The research lab works on two main grants for research into TBI early diagnosis - one granted to KSU, and another grant out of Pennsylvania State University. Details are given below:

 

Current Grant


Department of Defense grant: (2011-2013), $2.4 million

Title: Validation of AMPA Receptor Peptide Assay to Improve Diagnostic Certainty of mTBI
Patient cohorts: 500 patients with concussions and mTBI & 100 healthy volunteers

Agency: National Institute Neurological Disorders & Stroke (NINDS), NIH, Bethesda, MD
Title: Biomarkers for Acute Brain Ischemia Study (BABIS)
Patient cohorts: 700 total:
400 patients with transient ischemic attack (TIA) & stroke,
200 stroke mimics,
100 controls.
