Brain Biomarkers Research Lab

Looking at test tubeKennesaw State University’s Brain Biomarkers Research Lab, led by Svetlana Dambinova, distinguished professor of health and human services in the WellStar College, concentrates on emergent diagnostics and treatment of brain and spinal cord injuries. Based on the decades of research of glutamate receptors conducted by Dr. Dambinova, brain biomarkers are being translated into clinical studies of stroke and mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) early diagnosis. The lab is working on the development of acute pharmacological intervention to be delivered to the site of injury within the first minutes/hours after brain injury in order to prevent or alleviate neurological deterioration.
