2. Do you have a rolling waiting list?

No. We have three application periods per year.

3. How many students are selected each year and how do you make that selection?

We have three application periods. February 1 – May 31 application allows you to compete for the spring program beginning the following January. June 1 – August 31 application allows you to compete for the summer program beginning the following June. September 1 – January 31 application allows you to compete for the fall program beginning the following August. Students possessing our minimum requirements are placed in a pool of applicants. Those who rank among the highest in the admission requirements (see Admission Requirements) will be invited to interview. Final acceptances are determined after the interview. We currently accept approximately 100 students for each program per year.

4. How long does it take to complete the program?

The clinical nursing sequence for the Traditional Program is five semesters – 20 months. The Accelerated Program clinical nursing sequence is four semesters – 16 months. It is a lock-step program, meaning you must take courses in the order specified. The degree received is a baccalaureate nursing degree, which is a four-year degree.

5. Do the majority of upper division applicants come from KSU?

Yes, but a significant number come from other countries, out of state and from the metro Atlanta area.

6. What is the minimum GPA for admission and average GPA of nurse applicants?

The minimum cumulative is 2.7

7. What has the average GPA been for accepted applicant within the last two years?

This GPA changes each semester, dependent upon the applicant population's grades.

8. Do you give preference to students who completed their coursework at KSU or base acceptance on gender, race, or sexual orientation?

No. Acceptance is based strictly on the application requirements.

9. Must courses be taken in sequence?

Yes, it is a lock-step program, meaning you must take courses in the order specified.

10. May I take more courses and hasten my graduation date?

No. Our courses are "lock-step", meaning you must take them in a particular order.

11. What is the "standby" list and how does it work?

Should the accepted students be unable to start the program, their replacements will be chosen from the Standby List.

12. What is the accelerated program?

Students who hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited U. S, institution (or equivalent international degree with all KSU Core Requirements completed) may apply for our 16-month, 4-semester Accelerated Program. The program is intense and is intended for those able to devote a full commitment to their education. This program begins each semester.

13. Can I start out in your traditional program and move up into the accelerated program?

No. These are separate programs and are not interchangeable.

14. Is there an age limit on your applicants?

Absolutely not. As long as you are capable of achieving the physical objectives of out program, you will be considered.

15. What are the requirements for graduating With Honors?

Graduation with honor requires that students have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 and earn at least 60 semester credit hours in residence at Kennesaw State University for the bachelor’s degree. If you hold membership in an honor society and are entitled to wear honor cords, please obtain them from your honor society advisor. At commencement, KSU recognizes only honors as defined by University Policy – Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, Cum Laude, and Honors Program Graduates.
