Being relatively new to the communication faculty, I've only taught two courses so far, but I've enjoyed them both tremendously. I teach communication theory and research methods to students across all our sequences. Although they may not seem like the most exciting courses, I love them both, and I try to make them as interesting and accessible as possible. I'm learning by the day that the academic life offers many challenges, but it offers at least as many benefits. I enjoy meeting new people every semester and sharing in their hopes and dreams, and I hope I help them get there. I'm thankful I have a job that encourages analytical and deliberative thought. I hope I encourage that in my students as well. These days it seems as though I have no life outside the classroom. I'm either teaching or getting ready to teach. Before now I was either teaching or writing a research paper. Bottom line: It's been a while since I had a surplus of free time. However, I like to jog, love music, and have an old MG Midget that I try to keep running. I'm also probably the only professor at KSU (and maybe the world) who has received a graduation present from Davy Jones of "The Monkees." No joke. My favorite quote would probably be a line from a motion picture, bumper sticker, or t-shirt, the modern day repositories of all wisdom. For now, I'll share a line from the 2001 Cameron Crowe movie Vanilla Sky: "Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around." I'll let you interpret that, but feel free to write to me if you are curious why I find it profound.
