In order to be assigned an advisor in the Communication Department, students must first declare communication as their major. To complete this process, students must personally visit the department office (Social Sciences Building #5106) and fill out a short form. Students must bring proper identification to change their major (e.g., driver’s license or KSU ID). It is not currently an option to change your major online; but stay tuned, as this may be available in the near future through the Registrar’s Office.

Unlike other departments across campus, there is no application or waiting period for students who would like to become Communication majors. Students are considered a major once they visit the office to fill out the form. At that time, all students will select a concentration area and be assigned an advisor.

If you have already officially declared Communication as your major, your advisor's name appears in your Owl Express account. You may also check the glass case outside the Communication Department office to see who your advisor is.
