POSITION: Intern
QUALIFICATIONS: Most important is an interest in local government activities, public relations, and/or community involvement. Good verbal and written communication skills are a necessity. Applicants should already have at least good computer skills (PC) and some knowledge of Photoshop (or other graphic editors), PageMaker/ InDesign, and/or Quark or taking instructional courses on these software packages during their internship. Knowledge of updating Web sites is also useful.
DESCRIPTION: Duties will vary, but may include assisting Public Information Office with: programming on ACTV cable channel 7; special events; newsletter distribution and production; public relations materials; research; Web site updating; general office work (copying, filing, phones, faxing, etc.); public inquiries; photography; special projects; writing stories for publication in newsletters/magazines/newspapers/Web sites; layout and design; media releases; information collection and distribution.
SALARY: $6/hr

DESCRIPTION: Seeking one or two interns to Assist legislative team with daily tasks. Includes attending Georgia Senate and House Committee meetings, or other meetings at the request of Brock Clay lobbyists, and reporting anything taking place in those meetings, research on current and potential legislation, tracking of legislation, writing reports, setting up meetings and attending dinners, assisting lobbyists in organizing client events, etc.

DESCRIPTION: Administer weekly e-mail newsletter distributed to subscribers. Determine editorial content, write, edit, layout in html and proof for distribution. Write content for city’s Web site, interview city departments about services and programs, determine appropriate content, write for web audience. Write press releases and media advisories. Track media coverage. Plan press conferences, special events and meetings. Create invitations, programs, newsletters, brochures, and advertisements. Respond to requests for information from public, media, city council and city staff.
QUALIFICATIONS: Strong background writing press releases and content for Web. Superior knowledge of English grammar and Associated Press Stylebook. Intuitive sense of what makes a good news story and the ability to tell it in a compelling way. Experience with HTML, Microsoft Office, Photoshop and design/layout concepts and programs. Ability to professionally represent city government. Public Relations junior or senior with minimum 3.2 GPA
