Want an Internship?

This is what you need to know:

1. Read (thoroughly) the requirements for an internship in Communication at http://www.kennesaw.edu/communication/internpolicy.shtml

2. If you meet internship requirements (i.e., you have a 2.5 GPA or higher, 60+ hours of university credit, and you have attended Kennesaw State University for over a semester), you may contact employers to interview for internship positions. To see the internships approved by the Department of Communication, go to www.kennesaw.edu/communication/ and click on the internship categories listed under the Internship Posting link on the bottom left hand side of our web page.

3. Once you find an internship that appeals to you, contact the company and identify yourself as a Communication Major from Kennesaw State University. Ask the contact person how you apply for their internship.

4. Now apply for the internship just as you would a regular job.

5. Once a company has approved you for an internship, you need to contact Thomas Gray to confirm that you meet the requirements of COM 3398. Do this by email at tgray17@kennesaw.edu

6. Once Thomas Gray has approved you for an internship (by email), you will complete specific paperwork with Mr. Gray to register you for the course. All interns register for COM 3398 at the Communication Internships Registration Meeting. The meeting is held on the first Friday of each semester at noon. Contact Mr. Gray to find out where the next meeting will be held.

7. To complete the necessary paperwork for COM 3398 registration, you must bring the following items to the Communication Internship Registration Meeting:

_____ A recent Owl Express record
_____ An email confirmation that Thomas Gray has approved you for COM 3398
_____ A job description of the internship
_____ All site supervisor contact information (including a mail address, his or her email address, and a phone number)

If you have other questions regarding Communication Internships, try Thomas Gray at tgray17@kennesaw.edu
