Dr. Heeman Kim is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication at Kennesaw State University. Before joining the KSU faculty in fall 2007, Dr. Kim taught various mass media courses in at Valdosta State University, Valdosta, GA. At KSU he is teaching Communication Research, Contemporary Issues in Mass Media, and Persuasion Methods and Strategy. His research is closely related to his teaching and includes the cultural and social uses of electronic media. Current research examines the cultural uses of Web 2.0 with an emphasis on the U.S. and Asian contexts. He presented his research at major communication conferences and published several articles in communication journals. Dr. Kim also serves as the Director of the Communication Department’s Digital Media Lab and an affiliated faculty member in the Asian Studies program. He is pleased to talk with students and colleagues about media-related topics and research interests.


Dr. Kim holds the Ph.D. in Mass Media & Communication from Temple University, an M.A. in Media Studies from Northern Illinois University, and a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Incheon.


He lives with his wife and two sons in Marietta, GA. His family enjoys exploring the multicultural tastes of Metro Atlanta.
