The mission of the Learn and Serve Center
at Kennesaw State University is to promote and facilitate Learn and
Serve by developing resources, publicizing the program and educating,
engaging and collaborating with the greater KSU community.
Along with Learn and Serve faculty, administrators
and the state director of K-12 Learn and Serve, six Americorps* VISTAs
(Volunteers in Service To America) work toward this mission at the Learn
and Serve Center by building, supporting and strengthening K-16 Learn
and Serve practices at KSU and throughout Georgia. The Center has identified
the following development goals.
- To develop and maintain regular and
continuous faculty involvement in Learn and Serve at KSU.
- To support faculty, students, and
community as they implement Learn and Serve.
- To develop and support research and
evaluation activities related to Learn and Serve.
- To forge new and expand existing partnerships
between KSU Learn and Serve initiatives and businesses, community
agencies and KSU student and faculty organizations.
- To locate and/or assist with the acquisition
of internal and external funding for Learn and Serve projects.
- To establish an organized and highly
efficient resource center.
- To develop effective and mutually
beneficial service-learning partnerships with other Georgia institutions
of higher education and the K-12 Learn and Serve program.
