Professional Learning Units (PLU)

Overview | Prior Approval Form | Course List | Frequently Asked Questions

In the State of Georgia, teachers are required to complete 10 professional learning units (PLUs) every 5 years in order to retain their teaching certificates.

If you are currently teaching, you must complete the prior approval form before you begin your course. It is the responsibility of the student to maintain a record of prior approval for a course. Please print out the form, have your supervisor sign it, and keep it for your records.

Students taking an online PLU course must complete the notification form prior to beginning the course. Visit our online PLU frequently asked questions for more information.

For classroom courses, please request your PLU Transcript and completion forms by sending an email to online@kennesaw.edu or by calling 770-499-3355. Please include your name and the course you are requesting paperwork for.

Note: If you are not presently employed as a teacher, you must keep your PLU transcript and course completion forms. When you are ready to renew your teaching certificate, attach your PLU transcript and course completion forms to your renewal application.
