Dr. Tim Hedeen, Ph.D.

Professor of Conflict Management
Nationally and internationally recognized trainer, mediator, professor, and facilitator, Dr. Hedeen is Professor of Conflict Management at Kennesaw State University. He serves on the editorial boards of Conflict Resolution Quarterly and Family Court Review, and as associate’s liaison to the Section Council of the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution. He is an appointed member of the Georgia Supreme Court's Commission on Dispute Resolution, a senior consultant to the Consortium for Appropriate Dispute Resolution in Special Education, and past chair of the Board of Directors of the National Association for Community Mediation.

Is pressure ever appropriate in mediation? If so, how and how much? Further, might some parties actually covet mediator pressure? This workshop will explore these questions, with specific attention to ethical obligations and implications. Participants will review the literature and research on preparation for negotiation and mediation; examine research on client and case screening for mediation fitness; and engage in the process and screening of clients for mediation readiness.
