Kennesaw State University has a strong tradition of supporting the professional development interests of faculty, staff, and administrators. In the summer of 1997, a professional development needs assessment of all full-time and part-time employees was conducted. Data from that survey indicated a significant interest and need for enhanced skills training in the technology, management, supervisory, and office professional areas. As a result of that survey, an innovative campus partnership, The Kennesaw State University Center for University Learning, offering a more focused, dynamic approach to professional development was established in October of 1997.
Each year the Center's departments offer over 200 courses free of charge to employees. In April of 1999, Kennesaw State University's Center for University Learning won the prestigious College and University Personnel Association's Quality in Human Resources Practice Award for the Southern Region.
As the Center for University Learning grows and expands, additional courses and services will be incorporated into the program. Kennesaw State University employees will have many opportunities to enhance the skills needed to succeed in today's workplace and to meet the challenge of change in the University's increasingly complex and highly technical classrooms, offices, and work environments of the future.
