Auditions will be held in the dance studio located at Chastain Pointe suite 306 (Chastain Pointe is located on Big Shanty Road off Chastain Road)

Audition Requirements:

All students entering the dance major program must demonstrate technical and artistic aptitude capable of successfully completing the program of study. The audition process will consist of a 45-minute ballet barre, followed by a short center-floor modern combination, and a final across-the-floor modern or jazz combination.

STUDENTS INTERESTED IN THE DANCE MINOR ARE NOT REQUIRED TO AUDITION FOR ADMISSION INTO THE DANCE MINOR PROGRAM.  THE AUDITION REQUIREMENT IS ONLY FOR STUDENTS INTERESTED IN THE DANCE MAJOR.

Students must bring appropriate footwear to the audition. The program recommends that women wear black leotards and pink tights, and men wear black tights or shorts and tanks to the audition. The dance studio will be available 30 minutes prior to the audition for students to warm-up.

Following the audition class, students will receive detailed program information, and will have the opportunity to meet with dance faculty and students. Students are not required to prepare a solo combination for the audition. Admission decisions will be made within two weeks following the audition and applicants will be notified of the audition results via e-mail.

Audition Application:

All students must complete the attached audition application form to register for a dance major audition. IMPORTANT: If you are not currently a student at Kennesaw State University, you must begin your application for university admission before you apply to the Department of Dance. It is not essential that the university admission process be completed at the time of the audition, however you will need your KSU ID number generated by the university admission application to complete the dance audition application form.

Course Placement:

At the time of acceptance into the program, students will be advised about course scheduling and technical level placement. The individual course instructor reserves the right to request a student to take a different level technique class if the students does not have a technical level appropriate to the course.

KSU Dance Company Auditions:

Auditions for the KSU Dance Company are held during the first week of classes of the fall and spring semester.  The auditions are only open to dance majors and dance minors.  Requests for exceptions must be made to the department chair.
