Career and Academic Opportunities

Individuals who complete the BS Elementary Education and M.Ed. in Elementary & Early Childhood Education will explore a range of skills including classroom teaching, curriculum planning, and research. Having completed the M.Ed. individuals will be prepared as a teacher-researcher to use best practices to improve student learning and are qualified to pursue an advanced degree in education, such as an Education Specialist (EdS), Doctor of Education (EdD), or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), each in a variety of related disciplines.

Double Owl Admission Requirements

  • KSU GPA: 3.00
  • 60 hours completed toward bachelor's degree
  • At least 30 hours in residence at KSU
  • Enrolled in or completed ECE 3320 Teach Read/Writ Ele GradePK-2 and ECE 3330 Teach Read/Writ Ele Grades 3-5.

Students should apply during their "Year 3" Block 2 semester.

Double Counted Courses

  • EDRD 6718* to count for ECE 4410

*EDRD 6718 is an online course and will count as an elective in the M.Ed program.

Accepted Double Owl students will need to apply to their Graduate Program by the posted deadline for the semester immediately following graduation with the Bachelors degree.
