Partnerships

To enhance our teacher preparation programs in the Bagwell College of Education and the Professional Teacher Education Unit, it is imperative that we develop strong collaborative partnerships with local school systems and specific schools, businesses, and community organizations.Through our network of partner schools, we work together to build a collaborative approach and commitment to the professional development of educators, while focusing on enhancing teaching and learning.

Through partnership development, the Center continuously strives to prepare effective, quality education professionals and build and sustain best education practices by:

• Increasing the level of partnerships with each of the systems and schools we serve
• Developing Center complexes and Professional Development Sites
• Collaborating with businesses, organizations, and other institutions in community involvement through many avenues of service.

Examples include:
• ECE Center Complexes for all Teaching of Specific Subject (TOSS) courses as well as placements for student teaching, EDUC 2201, Service Learning for EXC 3304, and reading tutoring. Formalizing the center complex written agreements is our goal.
• Special Education Initiative: an on-site training model on using effective strategies for working with special needs students in the general education classroom for all student teachers placed in inclusive schools. The initiative will include all Project Wins schools and will be in collaboration with the Department of Special Education.
