Institution, Business, and Community Involvement

The Center works with other institutions, businesses, and the community in several avenues of service. Examples include:
• The Supported Employment Transition Services (SETS)
• Project Respect
• The Northwest Georgia P-16 Council
• The Northwest Georgia Crescent Alliance
• Cobb Chamber of Commerce

Following is a brief description of our involvement with some of these groups:

SETS Program: The Supported Employment Transition Services (SETS) is in collaboration with Cobb County Schools. The program is for challenged students in the senior year of high school and provides the support to ease transition from high school to the adult world. The Center provides space, telephones, and some secretarial support for the program.

P - 16 Council: The Georgia Pre-School-Post-Secondary Initiative involves working with KSU partnership high schools to discuss expectations for success in higher education (including universities, colleges, and technical institutes). The P-16 Advisory Board (the Northwest Georgia P - 16 Community Council) includes representatives from schools, school boards, school administrations, U.S. Department of Education (regional representative), technical institutes, Kennesaw State University, and the community. There are several state meetings planned this year to continue the Council's work.

Bagwell College of Education Alumni Association: The Center serves on the Alumni Association assisting the chairperson as needed.
