Opportunities
Afforded the Teacher of the Year Include, but are not Limited to:
· To serve as a university supervisor for student teaching supervision
· To serve as an adjunct professor, teaching an education course
· To co-teach an education course with a Kennesaw State University,
Bagwell College of Education faculty member
· To serve as a mentor for a beginning teacher (first or second
year teacher) using a laptop purchased by the Bagwell College of Education.
The laptop would become the property of the Teacher of the Year to continue
to support the classroom.
· To attend a national conference (to be selected by the teacher
of the year in connection with his/her school system). It is important
for the Teacher of the Year to share information from the conference
with other teachers or preservice teachers.
· To apply for a mini-grant to be used in the classroom to increase
student learning. It is important for the Teacher of the Year to share
with Bagwell College of Education and/or other teachers the impact that
the mini-grant had on his/her students
· To apply for a Supervising Master Teacher role and serve as
a collaborating teacher and university supervisor for student teachers
· To speak at beginning and/or ending student teaching seminars
· To present or co-present an area of expertise to beginning
teachers in an induction workshop. This presentation would involve collaborative
planning with other school system teacher's of the year if co-presentation
is selected.
· To attend an Alumni Advisory Board meeting to share ideas or
make suggestions for future Alumni activities.
· To write a short article on an area of expertise for the teacher
induction newsletter published by the Center for Field Experiences and
Partnerships.
