How to Use Chalk and Wire Issues
Answers to Issues
Issue #1 - I purchased a code from the bookstore, but I can’t login
After purchasing a code from the bookstore, students MUST activate the code to generate a username and password before they can login to Chalk and Wire. Point them to the PTEU C&W website and have them click on Directions for New User Account Activation & Initial Set-Up for instructions on how to setup their account.
Issue #2 - The site will not accept my userid and password, what should I try?
- Be sure you have activated your account code (see issue #1)
- Be sure you are logging into the correct site. Currently we have 2 versions of Chalk and Wire in operation. EP1 is a link for users who started using Chalk and Wire prior to Summer 2007. EP2 is for users who purchased codes from the bookstore as of summer 2007. All students who purchased codes from the bookstore should use the EP2 login link.
- Be sure you are using the userid generated by Chalk and Wire when you activated your account. This will typically be some form of the name you entered during the activation process. If you did not note the userid generated by Chalk and Wire, please send an email to chalkandwirehelp@kennesaw.edu with your name, KSU # and major, so that a member of the PTEU Chalk and Wire Support Team can lookup your userid.
- If you have forgotten your password, please use the "Forgotten your password? Click here to recover it" link on the main login page. Depending on how you setup your account, you may be prompted to answer a question and then a new password will automatically be generated for you. Otherwise, an email will be sent to your KSU student email account with the new password.
- If neither of these options work, email chalkandwirehelp@kennesaw.edu with your name, KSU # and major, so that a member of the Chalk and Wire Support Team can re-set your password.
Issue #3 – How do I change my password?
- Once you login to Chalk and Wire, you will have access to the change password link from each screen. The change password link is located in the upper green menu area of your screen. Click the change password link and you will be prompted to enter the old password, then enter the new password twice and click OK. Once that is done, we recommend that you logout and log back in using the new password to ensure it works.
Issue #4 – How do I create a portfolio in Chalk and Wire?
- You will receive training within your courses on specifically how to use Chalk and Wire within your teacher education program area. There are also a series of student training sessions that will be offered each semester. Check the PTEU Chalk and Wire Website under Training Options for training session dates, times, and locations. In addition, there are help documents on the PTEU Chalk and Wire website under the Students link explaining how to use the Chalk and Wire system. Currently these materials include access to the Student Candidate Manual, but additional online tutorials are in development and will be located under the Students link as they become available.
- Please understand that each teacher education program across campus is implementing Chalk and Wire in a slightly different way. Therefore, if you have questions about how to setup your porfolio for your program or questions about what should be uploaded into the portfolio you should contact your professor or program coordinator. See the Program Specific Support Contacts for a list of support people in your major.
Issue #5 - How can I save my ePortfolio locally on my desktop or burn it to a CD?
- If you'd like to save a copy of your ePortfolio locally to your desktop follow the step-by-step instructions in this online video. The video requies Flash 7.0 or higher to view.
