are native speakers of other languages. The program includes course work
in cultural issues, applied linguistics and methods and materials for
teaching ESOL.
Some topics that will be covered
are: language immersion experiences, what it's like learning a new language,
trends in language minority populations, differences between child and
adult ESOL learners, and application of technology to ESOL instruction.
There will be some field experiences with local ESOL programs, presentations
by state and local community leaders in the field, and presentations by
international faculty and students.
