GACE Content Assessment


What are the GACE Content Assessment exams?

GACE Content Assessment is the certification exam. In order to receive a professional teaching certificate in the state of Georgia, a passing score on the GACE exams, appropriate to the program completed, must be posted. Kennesaw State recommends that the GACE Content exams not be taken an individual has completed all, or a majority, of your content courses. For Early Childhood majors this test should not be taken until you are at least in T.O.S.S.

Which GACE Content Assessment exams should be taken?

There are different test for each field of education. You will need to take the listed CONTENT ASSESSMENT tests for your field. Please refer to the GACE Test Selection website for appropriate test codes and availability.

Click on the GACE list to determine which tests are required for each specific field of education that KSU offers.

How do I register for the GACE Content Assessment tests?

Register online at the GACE Registration website.

The GACE exams will be offered 2 more times in the 2006-07 school year.

The GACE test dates are:

May 19, 2007
August 4, 2007

Note: The deadline to register is usually 6 weeks prior to the exam date.

The test will cost $150.00. That is $65 for each of the three tests and a $20 registration fee (per test date).

Score are expected to report within 4-5 weeks of the exam date.

What is considered "passing" on the GACE exams?

Passing scores for all GACE exams is 220. A minimum of 220 is required on each exam in order to meet this requirement.

When and where are the GACE tests offered?

The location and address of the GACE test site assignement is sent to an individual with their admission ticket.

Note: The deadline to register is usually 5 weeks before the test.

How can I prepare for the GACE Content Assessment tests?

There are several ways that you can prepare yourself for the GACE BSA exams.

Preparation Guides

Preparation guides for the tests are available on the GACE Preparation Materials website and may be viewed and printed free of charge.

Workshops

Workshops are being offered through the KSU Teacher Resource and Activity Center and Continuing Education. Please contact one of these offices to inquire about the workshops. PAGE and GAE are also offering workshops.


***The GACE exams officially replaced the Praxis series as of September 30, 2006.***

The information provided below is provided only for the benefit of individuals who had taken and passed at least one of the two required Praxis II exams (for their degree/certification field) PRIOR to September 30, 2006. If you have sat for and passed one of your two required Praxis II exams prior to September 30, 2006, you must take the appropriate GACE Subject Assessment exam. Middle Grades education exams are "stand alone" and no Praxis II exams taken after September30, 2006, wil be accepted.

 

Praxis II: Content Specific


Praxis II is your certification test if you passed at least 1 of your 2 required exams prior to September 30, 2006. It is required that a passing score for the second required exam be posted prior to March 5, 2007, otherwise, you must take the GACE Content Assessment exams for your degree field.
