Doctor of Education in Leadership for Learning (Ed.D.)

Admission Requirements

Please note:

  • Application for Spring 2009 are due September 2, 2008 by 5 P.M.
  • Cohort will start January 2009
  • There is a $50 application fee - only completed applications will be reviewed

Please complete the following materials contained in the application packet:

  • 2. Submit official transcripts from EACH college previously attended, undergraduate and graduate, to KSU's Graduate Admissions Office. Official transcripts must be received by KSU in a university sealed envelope. Your transcripts should reflect at least an earned Master's degree or its equivalent in professional education or a related field. The Doctoral Admissions Committee will determine your eligibility in the program based upon your degree. Have the sealed envelope sent to your home. Do not open and include the sealed transcripts in your application packet.

  • 3. Submit a copy of your GRE scores from the Educational Testing Services.
    ( www.ets.org ) Make sure your official results are sent to KSU upon completion (School Code 5359). Please note that KSU will only accept scores generated within the past 5 years. Scores beyond 5 years will not be accepted. Graduate G.P.A. and GRE scores will be utilized with other admission criteria to determine program eligibility. Although no minimum scores are required, candidate is encouraged to prepare and score well since admission to the program is competitive.

  • 4. Include a copy of your Georgia Teaching Certificate or its equivalent and all other relevant professional teaching and/or administrative certificates. The Doctoral Admissions Committee will determine your eligibility in the program based upon your certificate(s).

  • 5. Copy and submit a Professional Reflections Statement. Please use the form provided in the application guidelines (PDF) to guide your statement.

  • 6. Copy and submit a Professional Profile or vita documenting education, teaching experience, and record of leadership. Please use the form provided in the application guidelines (PDF) to guide your profile. Your profile must reflect your current full-time employment as a professional educator with at least FIVE years of teaching and/or administrative experience in K-12 education. Current employment as a professional educator and FIVE years experience in K-12 education are both requirements for this program.

  • 7. Transfer Credit Request Form. Please note that decisions about the acceptability of transfer credit will be made on a case-by-case basis and must be approved by the concentration advisor and Coordinator of the Doctoral Program. If you would like to request transfer credit from a prior institution use the form provided in the application guidelines (PDF) to guide your profile.
  • 8. Please note A final list of prospective candidates will be selected for an interview with faculty. Candidates who are selected for interviews will be contacted by the Doctoral Admissions Committee in early to mid October.
