Precautionary Measures for H1N1
Teacher candidates who acquire flu-like symptoms should not go into the field. They should contact their collaborating teachers and field supervisors as soon as possible via phone and/or email and follow KSU’s recommended responses to influenza for the 2009-2010 academic year posted on KSU’s homepage. Teacher candidates should not return to the field until 24 hours after they no longer have a fever, or signs of a fever, without the use of fever-reducing medications. In addition, schools may have their own crisis and pandemic plans and procedures, and candidates are expected to abide by those guidelines (e.g., a school may require more than a 24-hour wait time after recovery). Upon returning to school, teacher candidates should work with their field supervisors and collaborating teachers to determine the manner in which field hours are made up. |
