Kennesaw State University Future Educators Events

Kennesaw State University sponsors Future Educators On Campus Retreats for high school students from approximately 20 school systems throughout metro Atlanta and North Georgia. This event has grown from approximately 300 students to more than 900 students.

Because of the growth of this event, KSU is partnering with other universities and colleges to accommodate and encourage Georgia high school students who have an interest in the teaching profession.

This year, Southern Polytechnic University, Georgia Highlands College, and Georgia Perimeter College partnered with Kennesaw State University to host FUTURE EDUCATOR RETREATS on their respective campuses.

Participating School Districts include...

ATLANTA PUBLIC SCHOOLS, BARROW COUNTY SCHOOLS,
BARTOW COUNTY SCHOOLS, CARTERSVILLE CITY SCHOOLS,
CHEROKEE COUNTY SCHOOLS, COBB COUNTY SCHOOLS,
DALTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS, DEKALB COUNTY SCHOOLS,
DOUGLAS COUNTY SCHOOLS, FULTON COUNTY SCHOOLS,
GWINNETT COUNTY SCHOOLS, HALL COUNTY SCHOOLS,
MARIETTA CITY SCHOOLS, PAULDING COUNTY SCHOOLS,
WHITFIELD COUNTY SCHOOLS

Students have the opportunity to...

•  Hear from Keynote Speakers

•  Meet future educators from other school systems

•  Experience the “first day” of a college education course

•  Participate in a variety of breakout sessions about the teaching profession such as:

“Where am I going?” Sessions designed specifically for Elementary, Middle School, or High School future teachers.

“How do I get there?” Sessions where students learned about steps/benchmarks to obtain admission to college, how to find funds to support future educators, and how to become a certified teacher.

“What can I expect?” Students heard from Teachers of the Year, new teachers, university professors, master teachers, administrators, and retired educators about the teaching profession.
