SECOND BACCALAUREATE INFORMATION Teacher education students who have received a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution* are exempt from general education requirements with the exception of ENGL 1101 & 1102, the Georgia Legislative history and Constitution requirements, and prerequisites for courses in the major. Students pursuing a second bachelor's degree and initial certification from the state of Georgia must fulfill all program and residency requirements. FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS A: Kennesaw State University offers undergraduate degree programs leading to Georgia teaching licensure in Early Childhood Education (P-5); Middle Grades Education (4-8); Secondary (6-12): English, Math, Biology, Chemistry, and History Education; and P-12 programs: Health & Physical Education, Art, Music, Spanish and French. Students pursuing a second bachelor's degree and initial certification from the State of Georgia must fulfill all program and residency requirements. Will any of the courses I have already taken at a previous institution
apply toward the degree program at KSU? Q: Do I need to take General Education courses? A: Teacher education students who have received a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution are exempt from general education requirements with the exception of ENGL 1101 & ENGL 1102, the Georgia Legislative history and Constitution requirements, and prerequisites for courses in the major. The Georgia Legislative history requirement may be fulfilled by HIST 2112, HIST 2111, or passing the appropriate exemption exam offered through the CAPS Center. The Georgia Legislative Constitution requirement may be fulfilled by POLS 1101 or passing the appropriate exemption exam offered through the CAPS Center. Q: Do I need to take the Regents' Test? A: Teacher education students who have received a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution are exempt from the Regents' Test. Q: What can I do if the transfer grades in core curriculum courses and lower division major courses are not a cumulative 2.75 GPA? A: After you have received an official transcript evaluation by the KSU Registrar, you should meet with your advisor to determine appropriate course selection to improve your GPA in these areas.
