Mission Statement

The Department of English at Kennesaw State University is committed to excellent teaching, scholarship, and service to the university and the community.  With a diverse faculty engaged in a variety of research approaches, the department models and promotes scholarship that honors humanistic traditions while making a range of contributions to university and civic life.  The department enacts its vision through English studies as an interdisciplinary enterprise situated at the foundation of the university curriculum through General Education, upper-division courses for non-majors, the English major, the NCATE-accredited teacher-education programs (including English Education), and the Master of Arts in Professional Writing.  English studies at Kennesaw State University prepare graduates for a range of professions demanding critical thinking, use of multiple technologies, and sophistication in language and communication, as they assume stewardship in a complex and changing world.
