Welcome

Welcome to the Secondary English Education program at Kennesaw State University. These pages are intended as a convenient way for you to obtain information and insight about our program.

Mission Statement

The English Education program prepares teachers with have a rich and broad knowledge of the English discipline through coursework in British, American, and world literature; language and linguistics; writing instruction; and media and technology in the classroom. Leading to a Bachelor of Science degree, this program of study provides students with certification for teaching English/Lanuage Arts in grades 7-12. We produce teachers whose approach to English/Language Arts instruction is both personally reflective and theoretically informed. The program seeks to develop a high degree of professionalism such that graduates exhibit a strong sense of commitment to students and colleagues as well as to the teaching of disclipinary content. English Education faculty are committed to student success and effective preparation of future teachers.
