Secondary English Education Advising Bulletin

Spring 2007

 

Beginning Fall 2007, there will be several changes in the Secondary English Education Program that will affect your summer and fall registration.  The changes are as follows:

 

1.     EDUC 2110: Investigating Critical and Contemporary Issues in Education will replace EDUC 2201: Teaching and Schools in a Changing Society.  English Education students will not take EDUC 2201 after this summer.  **If you’ve already taken EDUC 2201 this change will not affect you.  You still may take EDUC 2201 this summer and it will still count.

 

2.     EDUC 2130: Exploring Teaching and Learning will replace EDUC 2202: Life Span Development: Adolescent and Young Adulthood Emphasis.  English Education students will not take EDUC 2202 after this summer. **If you’ve already taken EDUC 2202 this change will not affect you.  You still may take EDUC 2202 this summer and it will still count.

 

3.     EDUC 2120:  Sociocultural Influences on Teaching and Learning will replace EDUC 3308: Learning, Motivation, and Classroom Management as one of the required “Pedagogy Courses.”  English Education students will not take EDUC 3308 after this summer. **If you’ve already taken EDUC 3308 this change will not affect you.  You still may take EDUC 3308 this summer and it will still count.

 

4.     ENGL 2271: Presentation in the English/Language Arts Classroom, a new course, will replace ENGL 2270: Language and Usage as a requirement for English Education majors. English Education students will not take ENGL 2270 after this summer. **If you’ve already taken ENGL 2270 this change will not affect you.  You still may take ENGL 2270 this summer and it will still count.

 

5.     ENGL 2271 will replace ENGL 2270 as a prerequisite for ENGL 3310: Principles of Writing Instruction for English Education majors. **If you’ve already taken ENGL 2270 then it will still count as the prerequisite for ENGL 3310.  You still may take ENGL 2270 this summer and it will still count as the prerequisite.

 

6.     ENGL 3241: Technology and Digital Media in English/Language Arts, a new course, will replace FILM 3220: Studies in Film as a requirement for English Education majors. **If you’ve already taken FILM 3220 this change will not affect you.  You still may take FILM 3220 this summer and it will still count.
