Fitness Walks/5k Runs

 

 

Due to the unique demands that walking or racing events place on university facilities, a limited number of such events can be approved by UE and supported each year.

The following run/walks are annual events.

• February: Owls Making Strides 5K (Breast Cancer awareness race)
• April: Daffodil Run
• April: Poker Walk
• September: Run for Recovery 5K
• October: Walktoberfest
• November: Turkey Trot

Walk/Runs can only be scheduled on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday

Things to consider when planning a walk/run event

The following is required for all walk/run events:

• A minimum of 100 participants
• A minimum of 10 volunteers to help walkers maintain route

Parking

• Please review the parking policy or visit Parking for more information
• Lanier Parking must be present at the Welcome Center for visitor parking.
• There is a cost involved for Lanier personnel stationed at the Welcome Center.

The following costs must be paid by the sponsoring organization or department

Emergency Medical Services

• $200 per hour
• Minimum of 4 hours

KSU Officers and Security Officers Required

• 5 Officers at $35.00 per hour
• 4 Security officers at $20.00 per hour

Off Duty KSU Officers

• Required when additional coverage and/or security personnel is needed
• $ 35.00 per hour per KSU Officer
• Minimum of 3 hours
• A minimum of 10 days prior to the event, the Event sponsor (s) must submit via email, to Public Safety and UE, who will be the lead contact person for their event, including their office and cell phone numbers in the event of an emergency. If an emergency occurs during the event, KSU Public Safety must be called at 770-423-6206.

Restrooms
Carmichael Student Center will be open for walk/run events.

Waivers

• All off-campus clients must submit a waiver signed that will release KSU from any responsibility of injuries from client and their guest while on KSU property. Waivers can be obtained by contacting KSU Division of Legal Affairs.
