Part-time Faculty Council
In spring of 2013, the KSU Faculty Senate, University Council, and Chairs and Directors Assembly unanimously approved and endorsed the formation of an official body to represent the part-time faculty of our university. By fall each department across campus had elected a representative to sit on the newly created council, and the building commenced!
During our first four months, we elected officers, formulated bylaws, established committees, conducted a survey, and began our work to address the concerns of the 600+ part-timers at Kennesaw State. And while we feel we have achieved a great deal in a very short amount of time, we are just getting started.
A crucial piece of the puzzle will be the results of our fall survey, which we hope will give us a better understanding of your needs, desires, and worries about part-time employment in the University System of Georgia. The 24 council members share your anxiety and uncertainty about our future as course loads continue to decline.
While we are not promising to be a magic cure-all, we will do our best to represent you and your concerns to the Faculty Senate, the KSU administration, and the Board of Regents. Our goal as stated in our new bylaws is “to identify, address, and advance the needs and interests of part-time faculty members at Kennesaw State University.”
You have placed your trust in us, and we will do our utmost to serve you well. Please reach out to your designated department representative or any of our officers if you have questions, suggestions, or issues. We welcome your input!
