WellStar Distinguished Scholar

Position  Qualifications/ Responsibilities:

Kennesaw State University is home to the progressive, successful WellStar College of Health and Human Services.  The College includes the Departments of Health, Physical Education and Sport Science, and the WellStar School of Nursing.  WCHHS also houses the Center for Global Initiatives, the Wellness Center of the University and the University Student Health Clinic. 

With an enrollment of over 2,000 declared majors, the College graduates over 300 highly-qualified professionals each year in the health and human services fields.  Construction will soon be underway on a new 200,000 square foot, state-of-the-art Health Sciences building to serve as a home for the WCHHS. 

Pending budget approval, the WCHHS is now accepting applications for the position of Distinguished Scholar.  The successful candidate is expected to have a master’s degree and a doctorate in nursing, public health, health education, social work or a related discipline.  A record of scholarly accomplishments is required.  A current, successful research program and a record of grant funding in the scholarly field of the discipline and experience in graduate education is preferred.   Nursing or Social Work candidates must hold current Georgia licenses in their field.

Designated funds are allocated to support the scholarly initiatives of the scholar.  Responsibilities include selective teaching opportunities at the master’s and doctoral levels; however, the teaching load is reduced to support scholarly activities.  Involvement in University activities and a national reputation in professional activities or research is expected.  Achievements must be equivalent to those of the rank of Professor at Kennesaw State University, and the position is tenure-track.

Rank and salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
