Position Title:
Executive Director, Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning
Position  Qualifications/ Responsibilities:

Kennesaw State University invites nominations and applications for the position of Executive Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL).  KSU is a rapidly growing and progressive university in Georgia’s public system of higher education. Located on an attractive campus in suburban Atlanta, KSU currently enrolls over 22,000 traditional and nontraditional baccalaureate, master, and doctoral students. Kennesaw State University's Quality Enhancement Plan, Global Learning for Engaged Citizenship, aligns with the international character of the university’s student body, the international travel and study abroad opportunities for students and faculty, and the many opportunities for cross-cultural learning available in Atlanta and throughout the northwest Georgia region.

CETL is strongly supported by the KSU administration and campus community.  It is regionally and nationally recognized as a premier faculty development center, having won several awards for its programs including a University System of Georgia award for excellence in research in undergraduate education for one of the CETL-sponsored conferences and the 2008 Council for Higher Education Accreditation award for excellence in institutional progress in student learning outcomes for its assurance of learning initiative.

The CETL Executive Director reports to the Associate Provost and is a member of the Council of Academic Deans. The Executive Director provides leadership for campus-wide faculty development programs and initiatives connected to KSU’s strategic plan and supports an institutional culture that encourages, values, and rewards ongoing professional development that advances faculty effectiveness. A central strategic initiative is for KSU to be a premier learning-centered institution with emphases on expanding distance learning, global learning, undergraduate research, and assessment of student learning outcomes.

The CETL Executive Director is a 12-month administrative, tenure-track faculty position.  The Executive Director currently supervises a full-time staff of 7 (one Manager/Supervisor, one Administrative Associate, three Associate Directors, and two instructional designers) and 3 half-time faculty fellows. The Executive Director also teaches two courses each academic year in his/her academic discipline.

The successful candidate is expected to have an earned doctorate in an academic discipline offering degree programs at Kennesaw State University; evidence of an ability to develop and initiate effective institutional programs to enhance faculty effectiveness in teaching, research/creative activity, and professional service; recognition as a leader of faculty development programs and initiatives at the regional, national, or international level; accomplishments and achievements in teaching, research/creative activity (especially as focused on faculty development), and service that qualify at the rank of associate or full professor; effective interpersonal, communication, and team building skills; evidence of success in grant procurement, contracts and other forms of resource acquisition; experience in budget management; and a demonstrated commitment to honoring and advancing diversity and collaboration.
