Position Title:
Assistant/Associate Professor - Performance Studies
Position  Qualifications/ Responsibilities:

Ph.D. in Performance Studies with an emphasis in storytelling studies, oral traditions, and performance ethnography. The Department is NAST accredited and offers a B.A. in Theatre and Performance Studies with concentrations in Acting, Performance Studies, Design, and Musical Theatre. This position is a nine-month, tenure-track position. The candidate should demonstrate established records in: published scholarship, artistic work in storytelling and/or adapting and staging literary texts, and superior teaching at the undergraduate level. Experience in graduate teaching a plus. Course assignments rotate among: introduction to performance studies, performing culture (including ritual, festivity, spectacle), performing literature, and contemporary performance & theory, as well as courses in storytelling and ethnography. The faculty member filling this position will coordinate annual poetry and storytelling events and direct a student storytelling troupe. Excellent organizational and oral, written, interpersonal communication skills and an ongoing research agenda are required as well as active participation in departmental recruitment and institutional service at all levels. While the doctorate in Performance Studies is preferred, related fields will be considered. The candidate should have a willingness to collaborate with other faculty and possess commitments to collegiality, excellence, and diversity.  This position will assist in the development of a graduate degree. Faculty rank and salary dependent on qualifications.
