Position Title:
Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology
Position  Qualifications/ Responsibilities:

This is a nine-month, tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology in a joint appointment with the Department of Geography and Anthropology and the African and African Diaspora Studies Program (AADS).  The Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology reports directly to the Chair of the Department of Geography & Anthropology.  The region of specialty is the Caribbean and/or South America.  Teaching, scholarship, and service is expected.  The successful candidate will be required to teach existing lower and upper division anthropology courses and also to develop courses in her or his area of expertise.  The teaching load will be three courses per term during the academic year, two for anthropology and one for AADS.  The scholarship agenda is broadly defined but is expected to include interdisciplinary work focusing on the cultural anthropology of the Caribbean and/or South America.

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D., a record of scholarship and teaching consistent with appointment to a tenure-track Assistant Professor position and an ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary setting.

Candidates should have received their Ph.D. by August 1, 2010.
