Associate Dean, College of Humanities and Social Sciences
Position  Qualifications/ Responsibilities:

The Associate Dean reports to the Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.  Primary responsibilities include overseeing graduate programs, centers, research, and grants; serving as the CHSS liaison to the Development Office; and participating in the tenure and promotion Dean’s Review Committee for social sciences faculty.  The Associate Dean is expected to be able to work as part of a team in the Dean’s office, and to coordinate and collaborate with Assistant and Associate Deans, CHSS Department Chairs, Program Directors, Center Directors, faculty, and staff.  The Associate Dean of is also expected to teach two courses per year.  This is a twelve-month, full time, tenure track position.  Compensation includes a base salary and an administrative stipend. 

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. or terminal degree in a field of one of the CHSS social sciences academic departments; a record of scholarship and teaching consistent with appointment to an Associate or Full Professor position with tenure; and the ability to work collaboratively in a shared governance environment.  In addition, the successful candidate should have a demonstrated record of successful administration at the department level.
