Position Title:

Director, Foreign Languages Resource Center (FLRC)

Position  Qualifications/ Responsibilities:

This is a 12-month, tenure track position within the Department of Foreign Languages.
The primary responsibilities of the Director are to:

  • Provide leadership in identifying and implementing strategies to keep the FLRC and the Department of Foreign Languages at the forefront in the use of technology in FL instruction.
  • Assist DFL faculty with the use of multi-media technologies in their teaching
  • Supervise and strengthen the “Critical Languages Program”
  • Teach one class per semester in one of the languages offered in the Department
  • Oversee the budget of the FLRC in collaboration with FLRC lab coordinator
  • Oversee operation of the FLRC in collaboration with the FLRC lab coordinator.

  • Required qualifications of the Director are:

    Doctoral degree in one of the following areas: a language offered within the Department of FL, foreign language education, linguistics, or a related field with emphasis on use of technology in instruction
  • Experience integrating a variety of computer software and media into foreign language instruction
  • Experience working in a language laboratory with multi-media capabilities, preferably at the supervisory level
  • Experience teaching at the secondary or post-secondary levels
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching
  • Commitment to engagement in scholarship
  • Commitment to moving the FLRC and the Department of Foreign Languages to the forefront in the use of technology in instruction.
  • Preferred qualifications of the Director are:
    Success with writing grants
  • Experience with travel or living abroad.
