Position Title:
Interim Associate Director-Center for the Study of the Civil War Era - Pending Budget Approval
Position  Qualifications/ Responsibilities:

The Interim Associate Director for the Center of the Study of the Civil War Era will manage the daily operations of the Center and serve as the primary contact for it’s Advisory Board. Incumbent will work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, board members, and the general public and media to promote the Center and its mission. Duties include developing public relations materials and website; coordinating resources for the research collection; maintaining technology and other collateral materials; selecting the academic theme and speakers for the annual symposium; conducting outreach, including a public lecture series; giving public lectures and presentations to area historical societies and other groups. Incumbent will also coordinate fund-raising activities for the Center, including soliciting private donations and grants, and perform other related duties in support of the Center.

The successful candidate must have a Master’s degree in a related discpline. Previous experience in an academic environment preferred, with a minimum of three (3) years experience with collection management, public speaking and event planning and fundraising.

In addition, candidate must possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish effective relationships with academic administrators and faculty, students, staff, and other public constituencies. Candidate must be well-organized and detail-oriented, be able to handle multiple projects, with ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
