Position Title:
Assistant Professor of Biology – Molecular Genetics
Position  Qualifications/ Responsibilities:

The Department of Biology & Physics invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Biology in the beginning August 2010.

The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate in Biology or a closely related field with interest and expertise in the area of Molecular Genetics.  They will be applying the techniques of molecular genetics to cell biology, microbiology, or other sub-disciplines. Teaching responsibilities will support both the Biology and Biotechnology programs and may include teaching introductory biology/biotechnology, molecular genetics, regulatory affairs, or an appropriate upper-level courses in the applicant’s area of expertise.  Preference may be given to candidates with knowledge of and experience in regulatory affairs and/or clinical trials and with prior teaching experience.  The successful applicant will have an interest in developing a collaborative research program with other faculty in the department and actively involving undergraduates in their research.  They will be expected to engage in and maintain a significant level of scholarship.  Applicants should have demonstrated the potential for developing an externally funded research program.  Therefore, postdoctoral experience is required.   Other duties will include participation in departmental, university, and professional service including the development of a graduate program.
