Position Title:
Assistant Professor - Mathematics Education
Position  Qualifications/ Responsibilities:

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position for Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education beginning August 2010. A growing and progressive university in the University System of Georgia, Kennesaw State University is located on an attractive campus just northwest of metropolitan Atlanta; enrolls more than 22,000 baccalaureate, masters and doctoral students; and is engaged in an impressive array of applied research and professional service initiatives.

As one of the larger departments at KSU, the Department of Mathematics and Statistics currently has 13 tenure-track faculty members in Mathematics Education. The department serves over 350 Mathematics and Mathematics Education majors The department currently offers B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Mathematics Education, a M.A.T. degree in Secondary Mathematics, and a M.S. degree in Applied Statistics. The department also offers, in conjunction with the College of Education, a M.Ed/Ed.S. degree in Adolescent Education with an emphasis in mathematics, and an Ed.D. degree in Leadership for Learning with an emphasis in mathematics education.

An earned doctorate by August of 2010 in Mathematics Education, or in a related field, a strong academic preparation in mathematics (at least 6 mathematics courses at graduate level), and evidence of (or potential for) applied/school-focused scholarship are required. Preference will be given to applicants with secondary school (6-12) teaching experience. Experience in college-level teaching and in field supervision of student teachers is desired, along with knowledge of technology applications in mathematics classrooms. Responsibilities will include teaching of mathematics and mathematics education courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, supervising field experiences, and engaging in scholarship, advisement, and other department, college, and/or university services.
