Position Title:
Assistant Associate Professor of Biology Education
Position  Qualifications/ Responsibilities:

The Department of Biology & Physics invites applications for a nine-month,tenure-track position as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Biology Education beginning August 2010.

Teacher preparation is central to the mission of KSU.  A collaborative commitment to professional teacher education exists among the faculty campus-wide and incorporates strong partnerships with public schools.  An energetic and progressive educator is sought to coordinate the Masters of Art in Teaching (MAT) Program in Biology.  Responsibilities include: recruitment of students into the MAT program, supervision of students in secondary and/or middle grades field experiences, serving as a model and mentor for future teachers, and acting as liaison between the College of Science and Mathematics and both the Bagwell College of Education and local school systems.  Teaching assignments will include science education courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels for pre- and in-service teachers.  Successful applicants will have an earned doctorate in Biology or Science Education with college and secondary teaching experience, as well as expertise in best practice and current issues in teaching and learning.
