Position Title:

Assistant Professor of Chemistry in Structural Biochemistry

Position  Qualifications/ Responsibilities:

A growing and progressive university in Georgia's public system of higher education, KSU is opening a search to fill a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Chemistry position in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, to begin August 2010.  

The position is at the level of Assistant Professor and requires a Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry with a specialization and demonstrated scholarly activity in structural biochemistry or a closely related area.  Teaching assignments will include lower and upper division courses appropriate to the candidate's expertise.  The successful tenure-track applicant will be expected to develop excellence in teaching, have a clear vision for a research agenda involving undergraduate students, be prepared to generate an amount of scholarly work commensurate with their teaching, service, and other responsibilities at the university, and to contribute to the quality and growth of the undergraduate chemistry program. 

Located on an attractive campus in suburban NW metropolitan Atlanta, Kennesaw State University enrolls approximately 22,500 baccalaureate, master's and doctoral students and is engaged in an impressive array of research and professional service initiatives.  The department employs 21 full-time faculty, 11 part-time instructors, and an administrative staff that serve over 500 majors.  It currently offers ACS accredited B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry, as well as several non-accredited degree tracks including tracks in forensic chemistry and chemistry education.  The department provides extensive internship and research opportunities for students in its degree programs.
