The Department of Biology & Physics invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Physics beginning August 2010. As we have recently initiated a Masters of Arts in Teaching Physics degree, we are seeking a candidate with a strong commitment to the training of future teachers. The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate in Physics or a closely related field. The candidate will teach electronics, introductory physics as well as courses supporting our MAT in Physics program. The position may entail teaching evening courses and courses offered during the summer. Although candidates in all sub-disciplines of Physics may apply, we are looking for an experimental physicist who can help us expand our offering of physics courses. Preference may be given to applicants with prior teaching experience. The successful applicant will be expected to engage in and maintain a significant level of scholarship. Applicants should have demonstrated the potential for developing an externally funded research program. Therefore, preference will be given to candidates with postdoctoral experience. Other duties will include participation in departmental, university, and professional service. |
