Position  Qualifications/ Responsibilities:
Kennesaw State University, a growing and progressive university in the University System of Georgia that is located in suburban Metropolitan Atlanta, invites applications for a 12-month, tenure-track administrative faculty position as Department Chair, Information Systems Department in the Michael J. Coles College of Business beginning August 1, 2012. The department awards Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A) degrees in Information Systems (IS) and Information Security and Assurance (ISA) and a Master of Science degree in Information Systems (MSIS). The MSIS degree is also offered as a dual degree with the MBA program. The Michael J. Coles College of Business also offers a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) and is accredited by AACSB International.

An earned doctorate in Information Systems or closely related area from a regionally accredited institution is required although a doctorate from an AACSB accredited institution is preferred. Candidates must provide evidence of effective teaching and research in the area of Information Systems that merits appointment as a senior associate or full professor with tenure in the Information Systems Department. The Chair of the Information Systems department is required to facilitate all departmental activities, including ABET accreditation, and to provide leadership toward the achievement of excellence in teaching, research, and service activities of the department. Michael J. Coles College of Business has a collegial, flexible, and entrepreneurial environment and the successful candidate should be a strategic visionary with empowering, shared governance and interpersonal skills; ability to promote the vision and mission of the University, College, and Department; and have diverse professional experience supporting the administrative role, including taking leadership in strategic planning, managing budgets, seeking external funding, promoting faculty scholarship, and supporting faculty teaching and service activities. The chair is also required to work closely with other Academic department chairs, the Dean of the College, the Vice Provost, the Provost, and the various administrative unit directors in achieving the University’s strategic goals.
