Position Title:
Assistant Professor of Biology Education
Position  Qualifications/ Responsibilities:

The Department of Biology & Physics invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Biology Education beginning August 2012.

The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate in Biology or Biology Education. Teacher education is central to the mission of KSU.  A collaborative commitment to professional teacher preparation exists among the faculty campus-wide and incorporates strong partnerships with public schools.  Energetic and progressive educators are sought to supervise student teachers; teach appropriate content and pedagogy courses at both the undergraduate and Masters (M.A.T, M.Ed.) levels.  Other responsibilities include supervision of students in secondary and/or middle grades field experiences and serving as a model and mentor for future teachers. Scholarship interests and achievements in biology/science education, and expertise in reform-based practice and current issues in science teaching and learning is required. Secondary teaching experience is preferred. Applicants should have the potential for developing a research program in biology education and obtaining external funding.
