Position Title:
Assistant Professor of Voice/Acting
Position Qualifications – Responsibilities: This is a nine-month, tenure-track, full-time position. The faculty member may teach courses in beginning acting, voice & articulation, acting styles, dialects and theatre studies. Other responsibilities include serving as voice/text/dialect coach for departmental productions and coordinating the department's recruitment and scholarship programs. Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills and an ongoing research/creative agenda are required. The candidate should have a willingness to collaborate with other faculty and possess commitments to collegiality, excellence, global learning, and diversity. The department's liberal arts degree emphasizes research and writing as well as creative work. The ideal candidate will have VASTA membership and professional acting experience as well as an established publication record.
Required Education – Experience – Skills (Minimum Qualifications): M.F.A. in Acting or Voice/Speech. The candidate should demonstrate established records in voice, text, and dialect coaching, as well as superior teaching at the undergraduate level. Candidates should possess an expertise or certification in at least one vocal training method such as Linklater, Fitzmaurice, Rodenburg, Berry or Lessac.
