Director, WellStar School of Nursing

Position Qualifications – Responsibilities:

The Director of the WellStar School of Nursing is a 12-month position. The Director provides academic and administrative leadership to two associate directors, 45 full-time faculty, 40 part-time faculty, and approximately 600 students enrolled in the graduate and undergraduate programs of the WellStar School of Nursing (WSON). 

The successful candidate should be a strategic visionary with empowering, democratic team building and interpersonal skills; have the ability to promote the vision & mission of the University, College, and the School;  have diverse professional experience supporting the administrative role, including taking leadership in strategic planning, redesigning the organizational structure, managing budgets, managing personnel, allocating resources, maintaining CCNE accreditation, seeking external funding, building community collaborations, and promoting faculty scholarship. The Director also serves as an instructional leader who maintains a record of teaching effectiveness and applied scholarly achievement.

Required Education – Experience – Skills (Minimum Qualifications):

Candidates must have a master’s degree in nursing and an earned doctorate in nursing or a related field; meet qualifications for appointment as a full professor; eligible for tenure; eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Georgia.

Departmental/College Overview: The retention and graduation rates of the WellStar School of Nursing are impressive: graduates the largest number of baccalaureate-prepared nurses in the state, maintains a single-digit attrition rate, and has an NCLEX first-time pass rate above 90 percent. In addition to the baccalaureate program, the WSON offers a variety of tracks in the master’s program and a doctorate in nursing science (DNS).  The WellStar School of Nursing occupies the majority of a 200,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art health sciences building.
