Position Title:

Foundation Fellow Announcement:  Associate Professor or Professor of Molecular Cell Biology

Position Qualifications – Responsibilities: The Department of Biology and Physics invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Associate Professor who will enhance and expand the research mission of the department.  Highly qualified candidates will be considered for hiring at the level of Professor. In addition to research, the candidate will teach one or more upper level undergraduate and graduate courses in their discipline and participate in service activities within the department and University. The area of expertise is open to any area of molecular or cell biology. This position is one of two Foundation Fellows for which searches are being conducted in the College of Science and Mathematics this year, the other position being in Biochemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
Required Education – Experience – Skills (Minimum Qualifications):

Requirements are an earned doctorate in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.  The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of significant research activity and external funding, will be expected to assume a leadership role in our research community, and will be expected to work closely with current faculty to further the growth and development of our MS in Integrative Biology and undergraduate degree programs.

Departmental/College Overview: The Department of Biology and Physics employs 40 full-time faculty and administrative staff that serve approximately 1,100 majors. It offers an M.S. in Integrative Biology and B.S. degrees in Biology, Biotechnology and Biology Education, as well as having responsibility for delivering physics and non-majors interdisciplinary science courses. The College of Science and Mathematics has departments in Biology and Physics, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Mathematics and Statistics, and Computer Science. The core of the College is housed in a three-building complex, including a new 74,000 ft2 state-of-the-art Laboratory Science building that houses research and teaching laboratories in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, and synthetic chemistry.
