Yes, students are encouraged to
apply for grants,
loans
and scholarships
by completing the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
You may also apply
for KSU Scholarships from October through
February. You may also use the Office of Student
Financial Aid website to search
for general scholarships.

Will the HOPE
scholarship pay for my apartment rent? |

No, the HOPE Scholarship will pay only tuition
and required fees as well as a book allowance.

I am moving into an apartment in August, prior
to receiving financial aid. How am I supposed
to pay the first month's rent?

If your financial aid will not
pay out until September and you are unable to
pay your first month's rent, you will need to
contact the University
Place, University Village or KSU Place manager
directly to see if you qualify for a first
month deferment.

Will my financial aid pay my apartment costs
directly, without me needing to do anything?

No, you will be expected to use
your financial aid refund (if any) to help you
pay the University Place/KSU Place manager for
your rent. If you have a financial aid refund
due from a student loan or some other type of
aid, those funds are processed by HigherOne
(in accordance with each student's choice) after
Late Registration Drop/Add is completed and
student accounts have been credited for the
amount owed toward tuition, fees, books, etc.

May I request
KSU to apply my financial aid refund to my apartment
rent charges? |

Yes, you will first need to contact
the University
Place, University Village or KSU Place manager.
The manager will then contact the KSU Bursar's
office for you in order to make the necessary
arrangements for any excess financial aid payments
you wish to have applied towards apartment rent
charges to be handled by the KSU Bursar's office.
