Process
Step One: |
To Receive Any Type of Loan, Students Must: |
Have a complete financial aid file. |

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). |

Submit all required documents from Owl Express. |
| |
See detailed instructions for new students or first time recipients of financial aid. |
See detailed instructions for returning students who have received financial aid at KSU in the past. |
See detailed instructions for transfer students. |
| |
| Be admitted into a degree program at KSU. |
| |
| Have received an award notification via your KSU student e-mail and your award letter on Owl Express. |
| |
| Be enrolled for at least 6 hours undergraduate or 5 hours graduate and be making Satisfactory Academic Progress. |

2007- 2008 Loan Application Process Step Two: |
Entrance Loan Counseling |
| |
Go to
"Mapping Your Future."
Any student seeking a loan who has not previously received a loan from KSU must fulfill a federal Entrance Loan Counseling requirement before their loan will be processed. Kennesaw State University offers loan counseling over the web. However, if you have access difficulties, please contact our office and schedule an appointment to speak with a Financial Aid Counselor. |

Step Three |
All Borrowers |

On your award notification, accept/decline or accept a partial amount of the loan amount offered to you.

Once you have completed this process, click submit.
|
| |
If you are a previous borrower at Kennesaw State University, a loan will be processed through your most recent lender. |

|
Parents of Dependent Students |
| |
For parents of dependent students who are seeking a federal loan for parents, go to the
Federal PLUS Loan, select a lender, by clicking "Apply Here" next to the selected lender, and complete the on line application and promissory note. |

New Student Borrowers |
| |
Select a lender from the
Preferred Lender List. |
| |
E-sign your Master Promissory Note (MPN) from your lender (available from the Preferred Lender List). |

Sign a Master
Promissory Note (MPN) if this is your first
Stafford loan or if you changed lenders. (We
recommend that you continue borrowing through
the same lender). The Master Promissory Note
(MPN) can be signed
or printed via the web or mailed to you. Your lender is responsible for obtaining the MPN. You may contact your
lender for further assistance. |

If the lender does not receive an electronically signed promissory note, you may request a paper promissory note be mailed to your address from your lender. Any information that is blank in the Borrower's
Section must be completed. After completing
and signing the paper promissory note, the borrower
should keep their copy and mail the remaining
copies to the address on the bottom of the promissory
note. |

| Note: If you have a previous student loan default, an official letter from your loan guaranty agency must be submitted to the Office of Student Financial Aid prior to processing student loan applications. |

| Disbursement |
| |
You must register for at least 6 credit hours as an undergraduate student or 5 credit hours as a graduate student. Most student loans are forwarded from your lender to KSU by electronic fund transfer. After tuition and fees are paid, excess funds will be disbursed to you by Higher One. Preferred Lenders |

Listed below are the names of some recommended lenders. For a description of borrower benefits and services and to apply, go to the
Preferred Lender List. These Lenders were selected through a very comprehensive research process. For a description of this process, please go to How Was This List Developed? You are not limited to these lenders. If you wish to use a lender who is not listed below, please contact your lender directly and complete your promissory note with them. They will then forward the information for us to complete your application. If you have previously borrowed student loans, it is recommended that you remain with the same lender.
