Grant Information

Federal TEACH Grant
  • Eligible student must be admitted to the Bagwell College of Education
  • Junior or Senior status or enrolled in a graduate degree program in Education
  • 3.25 cumulative grade-point-average
  • Preparing for teacher certification in a critical-need field (see slide presentation PPT or PDF)
  • Must commit to teaching in a low-income school for a minimum of 4 years within the first 8 years of graduating.
  • Failure to complete the full teaching requirement reverts the TEACH Grant to an Unsubsidized Stafford Loan.
  • $4,000 maximum annual award; reverts to Unsubsidized Stafford Loan if minimum teaching service requirements are not completed in full

Federal Pell Grant
  • Federally funded to students with exceptional need
  • Award ranges from $262 - $4731 per academic year
  • Must be an undergraduate student without a previous bachelor's degree
  • Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Have a complete financial aid file
  • May be eligible if attending less than half-time (i.e. 5 hours or less)
Federal Supplement Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
  • Federally funded to students with exceptional need on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Must have a complete file by priority deadline of April 1st
  • Award ranges from $200 - $800 per academic year
  • Must be an undergraduate student without a previous bachelor's degree
  • Priority is given to students also receiving the Pell Grant
Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
  • Undergraduates
  • Receiving a Pell Grant during the same academic year
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Enrolled full-time
  • Enrolled in their first or second academic year of study
  • Completed a rigorous secondary school program of study (in GA this is defined as Graduation with Distinction and must be notated on the student’s diploma)
  • High school graduate after January 1, 2005
  • Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA to receive second year of grant
National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant or National SMART Grant (SMART)
  • Undergraduates
  • Receiving a Pell Grant during the same academic year
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Enrolled full-time
  • Enrolled in their third or fourth academic year of study
  • Enrolled in an eligible degree program majoring in physical, life, or computer sciences, engineering, technology, mathematics or a critical-need foreign language
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
