Grant Information

Federal Pell Grant

• 

Federally funded to students with exceptional need

• 

Award ranges from $400 - $4310 per academic year

• 

Must be an undergraduate student without a previous bachelor's degree

• 

Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

• 

Have a complete financial aid file

• 

May be eligible if attending less than half-time (i.e. 5 hours or less)

   

Federal Supplement Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

• 

Federally funded to students with exceptional need on a first-come, first-served basis

• 

Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

• 

Must have a complete file by priority deadline of April 1st

• 

Award ranges from $200 - $800 per academic year

• 

Must be an undergraduate student without a previous bachelor's degree

• 

Must be attending at least half-time (i.e. 6 hours or more)

• 

Priority is given to students also receiving the Pell Grant

 

Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)

  • Undergraduates
  • Receiving a Pell Grant during the same academic year
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Enrolled full-time
  • Enrolled in their first or second academic year of study
  • Completed a rigorous secondary school program of study (in GA this is defined as Graduation with Distinction and must be notated on the student’s diploma)
  • High school graduate after January 1, 2005
  • Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA to receive second year of grant
 
National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant or National SMART Grant (SMART)
  • Undergraduates
  • Receiving a Pell Grant during the same academic year
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Enrolled full-time
  • Enrolled in their third or fourth academic year of study
  • Enrolled in an eligible degree program majoring in physical, life, or computer sciences, engineering, technology, mathematics or a critical-need foreign language
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
 

Return Of Title IV Funds

As part of the Higher Education Amendments of 1998, Congress passed new provisions governing what must happen to your Federal financial assistance if you completely withdraw from school in any semester.
